Terdapat tiga jenis gula yang utama iaitu sukrosa, laktosa dan fruktosa. Gula adalah antara nutrien yang diperlukan oleh tubuh badan. Sel didalam badan boleh mati tanpanya. Walaubagaimanapun, pengambilan gula secara berlebihan akan meningkat risiko masalah kesihatan. Ini termasuklah obesiti, kencing manis, peningkatan tekanan terhadap jantung serta saluran darah dan kerosakan gigi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Terma \u2018bebas gula\u2019 merujuk kepada glukosa, fruktosa dan sukrosa yang ditambah kedalam makanan dan minuman, serta gula yang terjadi secara semula jadi dalam sirap, madu dan jus buah.
